Today Adam said that BrandNew were coming up with a new campaign for their website including advertisements & animations. He wanted me to come up with the concept for it. So I spent all day putting together moodboards of great animations and imagery that I thought could work for them. I tried to think of some seasonal things (Christmas) that wouldn't be too cheesy or obvious and I think I came up with some good stuff. I even sketched out some quick storyboards to help convey my ideas - shame my drawing skills have gone back to zero over the Summer!
This experience reminded me of the design for digital media module we did last year. Thank god for the 3d/motion team meaning that I don't have to do anything on After Effects. Collaboration is a beautiful thing.
Today Adam wasn't in but he had given me lots of work to do in his absence. I had to create brand guideline stylesheets for two different companies - The Pearl Club & Women's Business Forum. I had to show how the logo would be used and different variations of it such as minimum sizing, monotone & reverse out. I had to pick out the colour schemes and add pantone swatches, cmyk & rgb values as well as tints for the colours. I then had to choose a font and show how it would be used on literature and websites and the full character set. I also had to show it in different sizes to give 3 levels of information. Heres what I came up with:
In the morning I finished off the corrections that Martin House wanted on the pdf and sent the M&S badges off to the printers.
After lunch Adam briefed me on a company called Wonder who try to help people find their dream jobs. He had to come up with some website concepts & visuals for a presentation to the client. So I helped him with some ideas and created a visual for his fridge magnet idea.
Got some feedback about my work for Martin House so made some slight adjustments to the leading of the headings. Then I set up the Christmas badges for M&S to be printed. They sent us the artwork for this and it was really poor but its what they wanted. I just had to add coloured dots to represent position within the company and design the text for the printer to finish off.
After lunch I worked some more on the SmartHub brand, storyboarding ideas for animations, website mock ups and different variations of the Logo. Adam really liked his 'make' idea still so asked me to do the same for that in the hopes that he can convince the directors to change it.
At the end of the day I got some feedback from Martin House on my work. They were really pleased with it. Their only criticisms were that the blue text was a little bit light and they wanted a picture of some older children as they work with them up to the age of 19.
This was my first day at BrandNew. I did some logos and business cards for the new Events Management company that was going to be part of Logistik the parent company. They hadn't decided a name yet but I worked on the 'make' brand. My work was then included as part of the presentation. Eventually we got told that SmartHub was the chosen name.
After lunch I designed a pdf/print out for teachers to help them deal with bereaved children. This was for Martin House, a children's charity.
My cross stitch project I did for my foundation FMP has been featured on a blog 3 years later! Have a look here. Someone else was saying how much they liked it the other week on twitter as well. Yay I feel loved!
In other news I'm going to ICM in Headingley tomorrow to see about getting some work experience, wish me luck!
